A Box Scraper Plane,
also referred to as a Box Scraper,
is a woodworking hand tool designed to scrape in awkward positions
such as inside a box or a drawer.
The tool gives a super-smooth even
finish leaving very little need for sanding the piece of work.
In particular the box scraper is ideal for removing marks such as pencil
marks and removing any knotty unevenness.
The box scraper plane is also well suited to scraping all manner of
other items even including wooden flooring.
A box scraper is a unique, cleverly designed tool with a free pivoting
head which sits on the end of a long handle.
The head on the box scraper pivots freely allowing it to locate to
the correct position.
The box scraper was first produced by Stanley in the late 1800's in
the form of the
Stanley 70 Box Scraper (black).
In the 1930's Record went on the produce a similar tool in the form of the
Record 070 Box Scraper (blue).
In recent times Kunz of Germany has produced its Kunz Box Scraper (green).
