The Woden fillister plane model number W78 is a multi-purpose tool used
primarily for rebate and bullnose work.
The W78 plane has an adjustable fence which is supported on two removable
cylindrical metal poles (arms) and locked in place on each rod with
knurled thumb screws. The metal rods and the fence can be positioned
on either side of the plane.
The Woden W78 cutter can be used in the central cutting slot for normal
work or it can be placed in the front-most cutting slot for bull-nose work.
There is a metal handle at the rear of the plane which is part of the
structure of the body. There is also a hardwood knob handle towards
the front of the plane. The combination of these two handles offer
comfortable efficient handling.
The W78 was also fitted with an adjustable depth gauge and a spur (incising cutter)
on the off-side of the plane between the two cutter spaces.
The plane was finished with a dark blue japanning.
