Manufacturer: Veritas
Plane Type: Cabinet Scraper
Model No:
This Veritas Cabinet Scraper review is about the cabinet scraper
made by Veritas Tools of Canada. This scraper is also referred to
as just the Veritas Scraper or the Veritas Scraper 80.
The Veritas Cabinet Scraper is Veritas Tools take on the traditional
cabinet scraper no. 80 model which was originally made by Stanley with
the Stanley Cabinet Scraper No. 80,
it was also produced in the form of the
Record Cabinet Scraper No. 080.
Veritas Tools have as usual put their smart Veritas style on the design
to create a stylish cabinet scraper with extra purpose including slightly
repositioning the handles which allows better purchase on the tool,
this has been achieved because the pressure placed on the handles is
in-line with the cutting edge.
They have also increased the surface area of the sole slightly by making
the sole longer.
The scraper is made from ductile cast iron with two solid brass blade
securing screws and a solid brass knob for setting the blade camber.
The brass blade securing screws each have a flat-head screwdriver slot to
assist in securing/loosening.
The sole has been surface ground to offer a good, flat sole.
The Veritas Cabinet Scraper overall length is 11 1/2" which is the same
length as the old Record 080 scraper and most Stanley 80 scrapers.
It is fitted with a 70mm (2 3/4") scraper blade which has been given
a 45 degrees bevel on two sides.
The casting has been designed inline with the Veritas scraper blade
to help protect the user and the scraper blade with the casting set
slightly higher than the Veritas scraper blade.
Usually supplied in a Veritas cardboard box.

the plane/cutter(s) to prevent injury.
- Failure to loosen parts when making adjustments to the plane can result in damage
to the plane such as cross-threading screw threads. Never force a part to move.
- Overtightening parts can cause damage to the plane and the plane threads.
