Rabone 1901 Combi Square Review By: I.Ball
Category: Old Squares
Manufacturer: John Rabone And Sons
Tool Type: Combination Square
Model No: 1901
The John Rabone And Sons number 1901 is a combination square from the
extensive John Rabone measuring tool range.
The tool has a multi-purpose design which is where it gets its name,
combination square.
The tool consists of a cast iron stock, a rule and a locking pin.
The stock is designed for comfortable and easy grip, it is designed
with 45 degree and 90 degree square profiles, it is designed to
allow the rule to slide through it and it is designed to house the locking
pin which secures and releases the sliding rule.
The John Rabone 1901 combination square is marked out in inches on both
sides of the rule. The measurements are further broken down into micro
increments of 1/8 inch and 1/16 inch.
This particular square had a 9 inch rule. I believe this square was
made with other length rules.
Unlike some combination squares the 1901 square doesn't have a level
bubble built into the stock.
The 1901 square was made by John Rabone And Sons of Birmingham, England.
