The stock has a circular hole running through it towards the bottom end which can be used for hanging the tool by a hook in the workshop.

The Stanley try square no. 12 was made in a variety of sizes including: 2", 4", 6", 8", 10" and 12".

There is a similar version of the number 12 square which had an aluminium stock and originally had a rust resistant blued blade. The similar square was the Stanley square no. 312.
