Stanley 11 Plane Review By: I.Ball

Manufacturer: Stanley

Plane Type: Belt Makers

Model No: 11

The Stanley number 11 belt makers plane is an unusual plane used of its time by belt makers and belt repairers of their time for making and repairing belts.

The plane has a cast iron body and lever cap, a best quality steel plane blade and a hardwood handle wing spanning across the central area of the plane to give the user greater control of the plane.

The Stanley 11 plane was made in the USA.

The plane blade found in the tool photographed bears the markings 'Stanley Rule & Level Co, New Britain, Conn USA' - this suggests either the blade wasn't original to this plane or the plane was made earlier than 1914. The plane blade is the same size as the Stanley 5 1/2, 6 and 7 plane blades.
