The Stanley bit brace also referred to as the Stanley ratchet bit brace, the Stanley drill bit brace and the Stanley drill brace is a traditional hand tool which accepts a multitude of bits which are often drill bits but also screwdriver bits, deburring bits and various other rotary bits.

The bits designed for the jaws of this brace usually have a four-sided sloping end which the jaws clamp onto.

The Stanley 66 ratchet bit brace was initially made with a wooden button and wooden handle before going on to be made with plastic handles.

Originally the Stanley 66 brace was made by J A Chapman at the Stanley works. They had the makers mark on the chuck head 'J A Chapman, Made In England, Stanley Works (GB)', also marked 'British Made' and 'No.66 10 IN' on the frame.

These braces were made in different sizes.

The black plastic handled Stanley 66 brace carried marks such as 'Stanley, No. 66 - 10in MK3'.
