The Sandvik Hogboo saw number 271 is a Swedish saw made with a Swedish
steel blade and a hardwood handle with a decorative Nordic design.
Swedish tool steel is regaded in similar high esteem as to Sheffield
tool steel.
The Sandvik Hogboo saw handle has two serpent like creatures marked
on the handle which give these saws instant recognition.
The 271 handle is secured to the blade with the use of three steel/alloy
buttons. The buttons require a phillips screwdriver to adjust opposed
to most UK / US saws which require a flat-head screwdriver (or split-nut
screwdriver for older saws).
The Sandvik saw shown is 20 inches in length and has 12 teeth per inch (tpi).
There were different lengthed and tpi versions of this saw produced.
