The Edward Preston plane number 10 is an early 20th century
cast iron wide smoothing plane.
The plane is fitted with a shaped hardwood handle and front knob. The
shape of these are slightly different to the Stanley and Record planes.
The plane has a frog, screw cap and blade adjuster mechanism which is
unique to this range of Edward Preston planes.
The Preston number 10 plane was built in direct competition with the
Stanley number 4 1/2.
"Preston" - found on the top face at the front of the plane.
"No 10" - found on the top face at the rear of the plane between the handle and frog.
"Preston, B'Ham. Eng" - found on the lever cap face.
