The Edward Preston router number 1397.
This distinctive router has two hardwood knobs, a router cutter and
a frame with three windows cut from central positions of the frames
body.
The purpose of these windows were to offer improved visuals of the piece
of timber being worked as well as offering a distinctive aesthetics
which was part of the Edward Preston tools brand.
The cutter is secured in place with the use of a simple locking screw.
At first glance there appears to be the one basic cutter placement.
In fact there are three placements; each of the bulbous wooden knobs
can be removed which in turn creates a new cutter position and a new
position for the knob.
These extra cutter positions offers the capability of getting in close
to corners.
