Manufacturer: Narex Tools
Tool Type: Sash Mortice Chisel
This Narex Sash Mortice Mortice Chisel review covers the Sash Mortice Chisel
produced by Narex of Czech Republic.
The Narex Sash Mortice Chisel is a traditional chisel which I would
imagine is based upon old British sash mortice chisels given the highly
prolific British tool history such as those made by Sorby.
This woodwork chisel is well suited to levering out wood from mortices
for tenons, locks and hinges.
The Narex Sash Mortice Chisel is available in sizes:
- 4mm
- 6mm
- 8mm
- 10mm
- 12mm
- 16mm
This chisel of sturdy design has a thick tapered blade fitted with a hardwood handle
(Beech) with a hooped striking end.
The hooped striking end helps prevent the wood splitting out when worked with a
mallet.
The blade is tapered to help stop binding and allow the tool to function to the
best of its ability.
The blade is forged from highly alloyed Cr-Mn steel and heat treated up to 59 HRc.
Narex has tool making history dating back to 1919 when Vaclav Richter began making
woodworking hand tools. Following the tool making lineage from 1919, the Narex
company name was born and registered in 1970.
The Narex tools of more recent times have undergone redesign and refinement and
are easily identified as the Narex brand.
