The Moore and Wright precision engineers try square 400 series review
includes detailed photos and information about the 400 engineers squares
manufactured by Moore and Wright.
The Moore and Wright Precision Engineers Try Square No. 400 is a precision
ground tool with a precision ground stock and a precision ground, hardened
and tempered blade.
The Moore and Wright 400 Engineers Try Square is made to the BS939 /
Grade B standard.
The square has a blind riveted design.
The Moore and Wright Engineers Square is available in sizes:
- 3" (76mm)
- 4" (101mm)
- 6" (152mm)
- 9" (228mm)
- 12" (304mm)
Moore & Wright in the past have made this type of engineers square in even
larger sizes.
Moore & Wright is a name steeped in history with a name being associated with
top quality precision tools. The Moore & Wright company was originally founded
in 1906 by Frank Moore. Over 100 years on it is great to see traditional Moore &
Wright tools still being produced.
The stock is marked 'Moore And Wright, Sheffield, England, BS 939, DIN 875, No. 400'.
I believe the Moore and Wright 400 squares are made in Sheffield, England, they
are marked Sheffield, England so I would presume they are made in Sheffield, England.
As this was a traditional tool made by the old Moore & Wright in Sheffield,
England, it seems quite plausible they have continued manufacturing of this tool
there.
According to a post on 28/03/2018 on

'Just had an email from Bowers Group, Moore & Wright.
...
The majority of the Moore & Wright products are manufactured in the Far East
although a select number of items are still manufactured in the UK.
Kind regards

Sales Office Manager'
Having looked through some of the 2022 Moore and Wright catalogue, it appears that many of the traditional tools are marked 'Sheffield, England' whereas tools which are of more recent invention aren't so my best guess would be the traditional tools such as this square are still made in Sheffield, England and the 'a select number of items are still manufactured in the UK' refers in part to the traditional tools which are marked 'Sheffield, England'.
