Category: Old Sliding Bevels
Manufacturer: William Marples
Tool Type: Sliding Bevel
Model No: 2220
This William Marples sliding bevel was made with a Rosewood stock, a
steel blade and brass fittings.
The top and bottom of the stock were fitted with brass plates giving the tool a good quality look.
The blade on the William Marples sliding bevel is locked and released from position by turnnig the screw mounted in the top brass section.
This William Marples sliding bevel was made in four sizes:
- 7 1/2 inch
- 9 inch
- 10 1/2 inch
- 12 inch
In the earlier years this Marples sliding bevel design was produced
in an Ebony version also.
This bevel was given good William Marples branding in the form of a trade label on the stock as well a William Marples inscription on the blade.
The trade label said 'W Marples & Sons, Sheffield, Eng, Shamrock Brand'.
