The John Rabone and Sons number 5151 tape measure is an old tape measure
housed in a mottle effect Bakelite case.
The internal measuring tape is made from steel with the measurements
marked in increments of inches and feet. Each inch increment is further
broken down into quarter increments.
The John Rabone And Sons 5151 tape measure is fitted with a steel ring
pull fixed to the start of the tape. The ring pull also allows the user
to potentially hook the pull over something to aid in long distant measuring.
The 5151 also has a steel winding mechanism. The winder neatly clips
into a central hole when not in use.
This Rabone tape measure was presented in a small Rabone square cardboard
box. The cardboard box was covered in labels detailing the tape measure
information specifics. The box of this Rabone tape measures says the
number is 'SO 5151'.
The tape photographed was a 66ft long tape. Other sizes of this tape
were manufactured by John Rabone and Sons.
