Eclipse Gold Hacksaw Review By: I.Ball
Category: Other Saws
Manufacturer: Eclipse
Tool Type: Junior Hacksaw
Model No: Gold Plated
The Eclipse gold plated hacksaw is a limited edition saw made by Eclipse
to mark the centenary of James Neill Tools of Sheffield.
The saw was made to commemorate James Neill Tools from 1889 - 1989.
The saw is marked on one side of the frame 'Eclipse Sheffield England'
and '1889 James Neill 1989' on the opposite side.
The saw was presented in a good quality blue box stuffed with blue ribbon
material and was provided with a certificate.
The box lid says 'James Neill, A century of quality and service, 1889 - 1989'.
At about the time of the making of this saw, the James Neill Tools company
was purchased by a group which went on a few years later to go by the
name Spear & Jackson (Spear & Jackson is a long running name
involved in making hand tools, particularly saws).
James Neill Tools was the company behind the making of Eclipse tools
and a company which in their time acquired a number of high profile
companies such as Elliott Lucas, Moore & Wright and Spear & Jackson.
