The Disston D23 hand saw has a foliage pattern carved hardwood handle. The extensive carvings flow over most of the handle including the full height of the holding grip and all around the buttons.

The buttons are set in a curved linear pattern with three buttons set above the medallion and one button set at 135 degrees from the medallion.

The Disston saw D23 was made with a taper ground, polished, crucible steel blade.

The blade was made with the straight-back design.

The Disston D23 appears to have been made with a number of different types of wooden handle, including: Apple, Beech and Rosewood.

The D23 saw was made in a number of different lengths: 18", 20", 22", 24", 26" and 28".
