Review By: I.Ball
Category: Old Tempalates
Manufacturer: Clico (Sheffield) Tooling Ltd
Tool Type: Square And Internal Mitre Template
Model No: 470
The Clifton square and internal mitre template was an accurately machined
and polished template for marking mitres as well as squaring off.
The template was made from malleable iron; an extremely tough metal.
The longest edge of the template measures 150mm (6 inch).
The Clifton internal template was made by the manufacturer Clico for
a number of years until 2014 when Thomas Flinn and Co took over the
Clifton range.
The Clico Clifton internal mitre template was presented in a blue cardboard
box with a meshed texture, and a white outline diagram of the tool on
the lid.
The Clifton internal mitre template has a sibling in the form of the
Clifton external mitre template.
Both the external and internal mitre templates went under the model number 470.
Thomas Flinn sold the Clifton internal mitre template for about 6 months when they
took on the Clifton range before discontinuing the template due to a low sales history.
I suspect the templates they sold may have been left-over stock from the take-over.
A few of the Thomas Flinn mitre templates were provided in a brown cardboard box
opposed to the blue Clico cardboard box.
