This Bowdon saw was an old English made saw, made in Sheffield.

The blade was marked 'Bowdon & Co, Sheffield'.

The handle and the blade are locked together with the use of 3 brass split-nut buttons, more split-nuts may have been used on larger saws.

The brass buttons have a special split-nut screwdriver slot on the reverse side of the handle. This allows the user to tighten or unscrew the buttons as required.

The saw shown in the photo had a 22 inch long blade with a 6 1/2 tpi (teeth per inch) blade. Other sizes of this saw were produced.
