This review is about the Stanley 151M / 151RM spokeshaves. There is a version of the Stanley 151M with a flat sole / straight bottom and a version with a curved sole / round bottom.

The version with the flat sole was advertised as the Stanley 151M whereas the curved sole version was advertised as the Stanley 151RM; with the 'R' indicating the spokeshave has a 'Round bottom' and the 'M' indicating the plane is the 'Malleable Iron' version.

Malleable iron is classed as 'unbreakable'.

For the core details of these spokeshaves please see the Stanley 151 / 151R spokeshave review with the exception of the colour / type of material used.

Your Say..

"I need two thumb screws. (For a Stanley 151M spokeshave) I cannot locate them. Would anyone know an aftermarket source? Thank you. Tom"

"The spokeshave is still produced and is only about 30 quid [at time of writing]..... worth it if you like your old model... Marc"
