The Stanley Floor Board plane number 74.
The plane shown in the photos is the early type 1 floor board plane.
The early planes were cast with 'PAT. DEC.15-85' on the rear of the plane.
The early floor board planes also had a lever cap screw marked 'Stanley Rule & Level Co.'
These planes came with a 45 inch long wooden handle, enabling the plane

The handles were made out of selected hardwoods, usually Beech.
The Stanley 74 plane was advertised as useful for planing wooden floors
as well as floors such as boat decks, skating rinks and bowling alleys.
