Stanley 7C Plane Review By: I.Ball

Manufacturer: Stanley

Plane Type: Jointer

Model No: 7C

The Stanley jointer plane number 7C is basically identical to the Stanley number 7 with the exception of the sole. The sole of the number 7C has a series of parallel grooves running the length of the sole.

This type of sole is referred to as a corrugated sole. The 'C' in the model number '7C' stands for 'corrugated'.

The idea behind the corrugated plane is the sole has less friction when planing, particularly as the board becomes true. The smoothness of the planing can be improved further by lubricating the sole with oil/wax etc.
