Plane Type: Jack
Model No: 605c
The Stanley Bedrock plane number 605C is basically identical to the
Stanley 605 plane
with the exception of the sole. The sole of the number 605C has a series
of parallel grooves running the length of the sole.
This type of sole is referred to as a corrugated sole. The 'C' in the
model number '605C' stands for 'corrugated'.
The idea behind the corrugated plane is the sole has less friction when
planing, particularly as the board becomes true. The smoothness of the
planing can be improved further by lubricating the sole with oil/wax etc.
