This model of Spear And Jackson hand saw number 24 is fitted with a decorative shaped hardwood handle.

The handle is secured to the blade with the use of four brass buttons, one of which has a medallion face bearing the markings 'Spear & Jackson Sheffield, SJ'. The buttons are set slightly raised from the handle.

The buttons can be tightened or unscrewed by using a flat head screwdriver on the reverse side of the handle.

The saw shown is 26 1/2 inches in length and has 6 1/2 teeth per inch (tpi). There were different lengthed and tpi versions of this saw produced.
