Extra Info: What is a Jack Plane? Jack Plane Videos
Manufacturer: Sargent
Plane Type: Jack
Model No: 414
The Sargent jack plane VBM number 414 is a good old jack plane which
closely resembles the old Stanley number 5 jack planes.
The Sargent 414 is fitted with a flat face frog which is equipped with
the typical lateral lever adjuster on top of the frog and the typical
brass blade depth adjuster found at the rear of the plane.
The frog face is the popular flat design which is a slightly better
design for dealing with
chatter.
This US made plane is equipped with typical designs of plane blade,
cap iron, lever cap, and plane handles.
The plane is finished with a black finish which instantly gives the
plane the look of a Stanley jack plane.
The Sargent 414 plane is one of a whole range of Sargent planes which
competed with the dominant Stanley plane range.
