Model No: 1641
The Rabone Chesterman rule number 1641 is a long folding 'zig zag' rule
made from wood with steel fittings.
The 1641 is marked out in centimeters with 1 millimetre increments.
The rule consists of 6 folding sections and is two metres long when fully
extended.
The rule is marked with the wording 'No 1641, Rabone Chesterman, Made
In England' on the face of one of the rule sections.
? - ?
If the rule hasn't been looked after or if the rule has been heavily used, the
numbers can be worn/faded, particularly on the top section of the folding sections.
The steel hinges can be prone to rust if they are exposed to moisture (as with a lot of steel).
These rules have quite often ended up with paint on them which can obscure the numbers.
