Norris A22 Plane Review By: I.Ball

Manufacturer: Norris
Plane Type: Infill
Model No: A22

The Norris steel adjustable shoulder reabte plane model number A22.

The Norris A22 plane is an adjustable version of the Norris 22 shoulder plane.

The A22 looks exactly the same as the 22 with the difference in appearance being the A22 has a brass knurled nut on top of the infill.

This brass nut is used to control the blade fine adjustment mechanism. Turning the brass nut moves the blade downwards and upwards to easily and accurately set the depth of cut. Note: the wedge should be loosened before making adjustments to avoid damage.

The wedge is used to firmly secure the plane blade in the desired position.

A different shaped wedge or a wedge made from a different material indicates the wedge has been replaced. If the wedge is a different colour to the infill then this may mean the wedge has been replaced also.

The Norris A22 plane blade cutting section spans the full width of the plane with the bevel edge side facing upwards.

The plane can be used left or right handed and can be laid perfectly flat and used on either of its sides to trim rebates, shoulder lines and tenons.
