This Veritas Detail Rabbet Plane review covers the Veritas Detail Rabbet Plane
manufactured by Veritas Tools of Canada.
The Veritas Detail Rabbet Plane is an attractive, little bullnose rabbet
plane from the Veritas Tools range of traditional hand planes with Veritas's
modern stylish twist.
The plane is made from accurately machined and ground ductile cast iron
with a contrasting brass lever cap.
This plane's narrow sole and small 76mm (3") length makes it well suited
to detail work such as cleaning grooves and dado's.
It is fitted with a O1 steel plane blade which spans the full width of the plane
which is set on a 15 degree bed. The blade has a 30 degree bevel. The combination
of the two gives a 45 degree cutting angle.
The Veritas Detail Rabbet Plane is available in five sizes:
- 1/4"
- 5/16"
- 3/8"
- 6mm
- 10mm
This beautiful little plane has the hallmarks of being a collectable of the future.
Supplied in a Veritas cardboard box.
* Important: please refer to the 'disclaimer' at the foot of this review.
* Wearing safety clothing and eye protection is usually a good idea to help protect against injury.
- The blade(s)/cutter(s) is very sharp, take suitable precautions when using/handling/storing
the plane/cutter(s) to prevent injury.
- Failure to loosen parts when making adjustments to the plane can result in damage
to the plane such as cross-threading screw threads. Never force a part to move.
- Overtightening parts can cause damage to the plane and the plane threads.
