This Veritas Cabinet Makers Trimming Plane review covers the plane made by Veritas Tools of Canada.

The Veritas Cabinet Makers Trimming Plane is what appears to be Veritas Tools updated take on the Stanley Cabinet Makers Edge Plane No. 97, also referred to as a 'Chisel Plane' and traditionally referred to as a 'Piano Makers Plane'.

With the name 'Chisel Plane', this plane effectively combines the ability of a plane and a wide bevel edge chisel to offer a highly controlled cut.

The plane is made from ductile cast iron with an angled hardwood knob and solid brass parts.

The plane body is 165mm (6 1/2") long by 44mm (1 3/4") wide.

The Veritas Trimming Plane is supplied with a full width 44mm (1 3/4"), O1 steel bevel plane blade.

The blade has a 20 degree bevel which when set on the low angle 15 degree bed it gives a 35 degree cutting angle.

The Veritas Cabinetmakers Trimming Plane has a blade depth adjuster which is controlled by the large brass nut located at the top of the blade.

Supplied in a Veritas cardboard box.
