The Veritas Cabinet Makers Trimming Plane is what appears to be
Veritas Tools updated take on the
Stanley Cabinet Makers Edge Plane No. 97,
also referred to as a 'Chisel Plane' and traditionally referred
to as a 'Piano Makers Plane'.
With the name 'Chisel Plane', this plane effectively combines the ability
of a plane and a wide bevel edge chisel to offer a highly controlled
cut.
The plane is made from ductile cast iron with an angled hardwood knob
and solid brass parts.
The plane body is 165mm (6 1/2") long by 44mm (1 3/4") wide.
The Veritas Trimming Plane is supplied with a full width 44mm (1 3/4"),
O1 steel bevel plane blade.
The blade has a 20 degree bevel which when set on the low angle 15 degree
bed it gives a 35 degree cutting angle.
The Veritas Cabinetmakers Trimming Plane has a blade depth adjuster
which is controlled by the large brass nut located at the top of the
blade.
Supplied in a Veritas cardboard box.
