Stanley 1-12-152 Spokeshave Review By: I.Ball

Category: Spokeshaves

Manufacturer: Stanley
Tool Type: Spokeshave
Model No: 151 / 1-12-152

This Stanley 151 Spokeshave review covers the new Stanley round spokeshave no. 151 / 1-12-152.

For the core details of this spokeshave see the New Stanley 151 / 1-12-151 Flat Spokeshave Review

If you are looking for info / review on the old 151 spokeshave versions, see the Old Stanley 151 Spokeshave review.

The Stanley round sole spokeshave is used to shape and shave concave curves.

One notable difference betweeen the Stanley 1-12-151 and 1-12-152 spokeshaves other than the different shaped soles is the Stanley 151 Round Spokeshave I looked at and other examples I looked at online had knurled grip handles where as the Stanley 151 Flat Spokeshave has smooth handles.

I'm not quite sure why the round spokeshave has knurled handle grips and the flat spokeshave has smooth handles other than maybe to help in quick tool selection in the workshop.

Stanley have moved away from the old numbering convention for the round sole spokeshave which historically was the Stanley 151R Spokeshave.
